Tara McNaughton: Director of Care
Mark: Support Services Manager
In 2017, I moved to Kelowna then onto Penticton where I am very comfortable where I am working for The Hamlets at Penticton and all settled in calling Penticton home. In 2018 I Achieved a Diploma in Society of Nutrition Management. CSNM is a requirement in Ontario and British Columbia as the Food Services Manager in the Healthcare Industry.
I started my career in Hospitality working my way up in the restaurant business. Keeping in line of Hospitality I attended college completing industrial cooking. College was where I met my wife of 23 years. Upon completing industrial cooking, I received my first cooking job at Nor Man Regional Health Authority in The Pas. During the 10 years of cooking, I felt I needed a more challenging opportunity. Through correspondence I achieved a two-year Food Service and Nutrition Management Diploma. I received my first management position in 1998 with ARAMARK Canada up in Churchill Manitoba. Along with the position, my family and I enjoyed Churchill, Polar Bear Capital of the world. The Beluga whales, Caribou, Arctic Seals, Arctic Fox and the Aurora Borealis was the experience of a lifetime.
Hello! My name is Sarah and I oversee the Recreation program here at The Hamlets at Penticton. I graduated with my degree in Therapeutic Recreation and am a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. I find joy in being able to make a difference in the lives of older adults through recreation. Whether it be playing ping pong, enjoying a tea social, gardening, or walking along Skaha beach, these experiences can provide purpose, health, and opportunities to socialize for our residents.
Lauri: AL Coordinator
I am very happy to be working for this amazing workplace! I have loved getting to know the residents & their families, staff and management of The Hamlets. I feel like I am amongst family during my work days. A bit about my work history: I am an LPN with work history including: team lead on a dementia unit; Penticton Regional Hospital – worked full time on various units including surgical, emerg, medical south and SP3. ; supervisor for home and community care Home supports; Resident Services Manager / Health and Wellness Manager for AL. My personal life includes a husband, a 29 year old son, 25 year old daughter and an almost 19 year old daughter. We have 2 gigantic dogs, a tiny cat and a Chinese fighting fish. On my days off I love mountain biking to the KVR tunnel from my home; paddle boarding on the many beautiful lakes that surround us in BC, camping, outdoor concerts, rock hunting, hiking, wine touring and gardening.
Clare: BSc. RN
My name is Clare Graham, I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, specializing with the senior population in long term care. I moved to Canada from Newcastle, England in 2006 with my husband and family and have been with the Hamlets in Penticton for 10 years now. We love to spend time outdoors especially camping and hiking. I am very creative and love refurnishing and painting furniture. I look forward to working out at my fitness class during the week and I like to relax reading my favorite books and spending time with my family and friends with a nice glass of Okanagan wine in hand!
Sue: RN, B.N., B.Sc.
I completed my nursing degree from Mount Royal University, Calgary, Alberta. Prior to that, I had studied a Bachelor of Science (Medical Laboratory Technology) from Mahidol University in Thailand. I have always been interested in health science. Switching gear from working in the background as a Laboratory Technologist to a Registered Nurse, certainly have opened my eyes. Getting to see clients in person and corelate those lab results to their health condition, allows me to get a better clinical picture of my clients. Majority of my nursing experience has been in community setting: Influenza Community Clinic; Home Care; Supportive Living, and now Long Term Care. Prior to my practice in community, I worked as a full-time surgical float nurse for Urology, Orthopedics, Colorectal, and EENT units. My favourite population is clients with Dementia. They are trying their best to do what they can, with their remaining capacity. With some support, we can still see the person behind the diagnosis of Dementia. I recently completed a certificate program in Business Intelligence and Analytics. I believe, health care sector would highly benefit from Business Intelligence in terms of data we can use to improve health care services. My favourite pastime is watching Japanese animation, cooking, and gardening.
I have been an LPN since 2014, I have worked in Long term care and withdrawal management. In my spare time I enjoy digging in my garden, spending time with family and friends and a cup of tea. I like to craft, and create things and tend to keep myself very busy. Especially with two small children. My husband and I are going on our first year of marriage and are enjoying living in Penticton. If I could pick any destination to travel to, it would be Thailand or Greece as I have not been there yet.
