Seniors living in or visiting Penticton are lucky in that they have a great variety of programs and activities to participate in. Being involved in programs in the community is great for our seniors’ health and wellness, especially during the long and cold winter months. Keeping both the mind and the body active can help to avoid mental fatigue and issues such as Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Some of the wonderful programs for seniors that Penticton has to offer can be found below:
Penticton Seniors’ Drop-in Center
The drop-in center offers a large variety of drop-in activities as well as regular events for seniors. Activities are posted on a monthly-basis, and include options such as dance lessons, exercise classes, card games, knitting, quilting, crocheting, and more!
The center also hosts special events, such as special dinners and evening dances.
The center is located at 2965 South Main Street in Penticton and can be reached at 250-493-2111.
South Okanagan Seniors Wellness Society
The society aims to provide resources and opportunities for adults within the community of the South Okanagan. Programs include social and recreational programs with an array of planned activities each month, and cooking classes with a nutritionist in a great, educational, and social environment.
The South Okanagan Seniors Wellness Society can be contacted by phone at 250-487-7544, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
