The Hamlets has been providing residential care throughout British Columbia and Alberta since 1989. We have over 100 team members across all disciplines caring for and providing services to over 140 residents in long-term care and assisted living.

The Hamlets has developed innovative Communities of Care, with the goal to provide care homes that have a home-like environment for our residents.  Nearly 1,000 residents in British Columbia and Alberta call The Hamlets home, with our focus on helping them live life to the fullest.

RESIDENTIAL CARE AIDES

You went into healthcare because you want to make a positive impact in the day to day lives of the people to whom you provide care. We have openings for full time, part time and casual registered care aides. Day, evening and night lines available.  Shift differential, 100% employer paid benefit plan, including RSP, available based upon employment status.

Attributes and Qualifications

  • Focused on person-centred care and driven to create moments of joy for our residents
  • Demonstrated ability to work well as a member of a team
  • Good health and the physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Graduation from an accredited Care Aide Program and registered through the BC Care Aide Registry
  • Must have and maintain WHMIS and Food Safe certifications
  • Geriatric or adult acquired brain injury experience preferred
  • Ability to provide acceptable background checks including criminal record check-vulnerable sector.

RECREATION AIDE

Casual Recreation Aides

The Hamlets at Penticton is looking for unique individuals who are self-motivated, creative, and outgoing to be part of our Team!

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, our Recreation Aides work as part of our long term and assisted living teams to ensure that residents enjoy the highest possible quality of life at all times.

We are looking for team members who have:

  • Graduated from an approved Therapeutic Recreation program;
  • One year’s previous experience in geriatrics and/or long-term care preferred;
  • WHMIS; Foodsafe;
  • Criminal record clearance;
  • Ongoing current CPR and First Aid certification;
  • Moderate ability with Skype, Facetime, Zoom;
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English;
  • Must demonstrate concern and interest in providing quality care to residents and be able to stimulate resident’s interest in the recreation programs;
  • Must be able to establish and maintain harmonious relations with residents/clients and their families, volunteers and other staff;
  • Ability to be tactful and diplomatic with residents, resident families and staff;
  • Ability to empathize and facilitate problem-solving;
  • Ability to work independently and interdependently as a team member;
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills;
  • Moderate computer skills Must have experience in recreation programming with the target population, experience with other populations would be an asset and are recognized as a “good fit” with the organization and its philosophy of care;
  • Must be creative and flexible in carrying out recreation programs;
  • Must be organized and have the ability to multitask;
  • Must be in good health and have the physical capabilities that are compatible with walking, bending and lifting residents, recreation equipment, moving furniture and assisting residents to sit, stand or walk.
  • Class 4 Driver’s License.

RECREATION MANAGER

This is the Opportunity

Full-time, Permanent team member as a Recreation Manager

The Hamlets at Penticton is looking for a unique individual who is self-motivated, creative, and outgoing to be part of our Leadership Team!

Reporting to the Director of Care, the Recreation Manager is responsible for directing, coordinating and evaluating all aspects of the recreation department in the home. The Manager ensures that the Recreation Department is represented on the multi-disciplinary team.  S/he coordinates and oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of all recreational and social programs for the residents. 

We are looking for a team member who has:

  • A Therapeutic Recreation degree or equivalent
  • Three to five years management or supervisory experience in a health care setting
  • Class 4 unrestricted license or the willingness to get it immediately
  • Knowledge and experience with RAI-MDS and electronic resident program statistic keeping
  • Member of the Canadian Therapeutic Recreation Association (CTRA)
  • Experience with recruiting and utilizing volunteers
  • WHMIS; Foodsafe; Serving it Right
  • Criminal record clearance
  • Ongoing current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English
  • Knowledge of Therapeutic Activation and/or Recreational Activities
  • Ability to empathize and facilitate problem-solving for the department
  • Ability to work independently and interdependently as a team member
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Moderate computer skills

SOCIAL WORKER

Part time, Permanent Social Worker

The Hamlets at Penticton is looking for a unique individual who is self-motivated, creative, outgoing and passionate about excellence in care to be part of our Care Team!

Reporting to the Director of Care and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Social Worker counsels and provides guidance to residents and/or families to assist with various social, medical and/or psychiatric concerns, ensuring that residents enjoy the highest possible quality of life at all times. 

We are looking for a team member who has:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Education or related field; or Bachelor’s degree in a behaviour science or related field and two years experience working in a social service field or related capacity; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. 
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, techniques and professional standards in the field of social work.
  • Knowledge of community organizations and social service programs.
  • Skill in communicating effectively with a variety of people of various ages, socio-economic and educational backgrounds.
